Understanding Tables and Charts

R eading a train timetable is an example of using numeracy skills.

Checking how hot your holiday weather will be on a temperate chart is another use of numeracy skills.

Tables and charts are a great way of recording and showing information about numbers. It is important you child can confidently read tables and charts as they are frequently used frequently in day-to-day life as well as in many other areas of learning.

Here's a Mini-Lesson on tables and charts -

A table is a way of recording information. If we didn't use a table we would end-up writing a lot more and the information would not be so clear.

In a table the rows and columns are important because they represent something.

Mini Lesson

Explain what a column is. Explain what a row is.

The column.

Then add to it, use info to record how many boys have green Eyes etc in a chart.
