Learning Track: Numeracy Part 2

Money: Working-out Change

W e don't always need to know the exact value of a measurement or an amount.

Working-out change is another practical way your child can experience numeracy.

Practice at home with simple questions like, "If you had a £5 note and wanted to buy sweets costing £3, what would be your change?"

Medium questions here...

The build up to harder questions like "If you had £10 note and wanted to buy your favourite magazine costing £1.53, what would be your change?"

You could also practice these questions using real money and taking turns to be the customer and shopkeeper, so your child have to work out the correct change.

Once your child is confident, let them buy things instead of you and watch as their confidences grows.
