Whilst Reading to Your Child: Introduce Sounding Out Occasional Words Yourself

Pick a book with reasonably large print, the kind in [our list for Learning to Read].

As you read, about once every two pages sound out a simple three letter word. By doing this you're child will be watching and learning from your actions.

Gradully increase the frequence of sounding out the words, up to say 1 per page, then move on to two per page.

Be careful not to interrupt the flow of your reading too much.
