Games to Develop Your Child's Auditory Memory

What is Auditory Memory ?

A uditory memory is the ability to remember and recall what is heard.

Children rely on good auditory memory to enable them to listen effectively, understand instructions, develop good language skills and learn effectively.


How to Develop Your Child's Auditory Memory

With these games, start simply and find the level your child cannot do confidently.

Only progress to make the game harder once your child is confident at the level of difficulty they are on.

Clapping hands a number of times, different rhythmns

Make silly noises - animals for example.

From pictures ask them to make the sound of the animal.

Remote control robot - child must do as told. Child can ask for parents too.

Things in a box, child asked to give 3 marbles. Then to get harder give more than 1 instruction in 1 go, eg 3 of X, 4 of Y...

Shopiing List game- when going to shops, ask them to remember 1 item. Build up the number of items.

Obstacle Race - Give a list of obstructions they have to climb over or run around.

Same Face - Ask child to draw a face - big eyes, etc. Parent does it too, At end compare drawings.
