Writing is a Complex Skill That Needs Building Up To

A s parents, we often under-estimate how complex a task learning to write is for our children.

Too often, children learn to write without sufficient preparation. This leads to unnecessary frustration, a lowering of self-esteem and sadly a poor introduction to learning and school.

Success in learning to write actually relies on first mastering a set of basic 'foundation' skills; good hand-eye coordination (also known as 'fine motor control'), an understanding of shapes, visual memory, and movement memory.
