Cool Number Games

M ost parents are aware you should read to your child to help them become good readers

Snakes and Ladders is a perfect game for having fun while learning counting, and recognising numbers.

Play the game with your child and make a point about counting out the number on the dice and then the squares in your move, counting out each jump.

What you could say on your turn would be something like, "Let me see what I got on the dice." Then count out the dots on the dice, "One, two, three, four. I got four on the dice. So now I can move four spaces on the board !" Now, jump four spaces on the board again counting out loud each jump, "One, two, three, four."

Encourage your child to use similar dialogue.

Play regularly, and your child's counting and number recognition will improve tremendously, and both of you will have lots of fun too !

Bingo is also great to help children with number recognition and also good fun.
