Learning Track: Towards Numeracy

Number Memory Fun with "Remember This?"

C ontinue counting out items to your young child,

Give your child the chance to practice and improve their memory of numbers. This is another aspect to numeracy, by becoming more familiar with numbers your child will be more at home with them.

Tell them their Grandma's telephone number and ask them to ring her, letting your child operate the telephone. Eventually, they will remember the telephone number themselves without your help. Also it's a good way for your child to stay in touch with relations, provided you control the call costs!

This can be a great example of fun practical learning as they will be so keen to use the phone, they'll forget they are learning.

Use your imagination to think of other ways your child can practically use numbers - don't forget to tell us about any of your best ideas, they could be published here on EasyStreet Learning!

Other numbers your child could remember include house numbers, and car registration plates.

KEYPOINT: Children want to do things that are more grown up, so you can use this to encourage them to learn. Learning Key Point
